Air Wing:
The St. Lego Fire Department Air Wing was established in October of 2008.
The Air Wing was established in response to the growing needs, and outward
expansion of the City.
A 2004 Bell 412 EP Helicopter was purchased used to save money, and
completely refurbished.
Installed equipment includes a night vision goggle compatible instrument
suite; a rescue hoist with digital camera and recording system;
custom-designed water drop tank controls; quick-change seating; and a
medical interior with two removable medical litter assemblies.
Designated Copter One, it can be utilized for High Angle Rescue Operations,
Search and Rescue, Water Drops, and Medical Transports.
Minimum Staffing consists of a Pilot, Co Pilot, and Firefighter/Paramedic
The Air Wing is housed at The Gately Municipal Airport, and utilizes an
existing hanger that has been left empty for several years.
